Quantum computer physicists at the University of New South Wales have announced to deliver the world’s first integrated circuit manufactured at the atomic scale. They have a quantum processor at the atomic scale to reassemble a small organic molecule to complete a challenge given 60 years ago by a theoretical physicist named Richard Feynman. Professor Michelle Simmons, a lead researcher at the University of New South Wales and former Australian of the year said, the team at Silicon Quantum Computing, one of UNSW’s most exciting start-ups built a quantum integrated circuit comprising a chain of 10 quantum dots to reassemble the precise location of atoms in the polyacetylene chain.
