Researchers of the University of Melbourne have recognised an anti-malarial compound (ML901) through their research. With ML901, researchers at the University of Melbourne will change disease into medicine. This medicine will treat millions of people infected with malaria all across the world. Researchers working on this project said that this compound will not harm any human or mammal cells. Leann Tilley, a professor at the University of Melbourne, said, “the ML901 compound effectively made the parasite the agent of its own demise, underpinning its potency and selectivity. It works by an unusual reaction-hijacking mechanism”.
