Processed Foods Study

Obesity and unhealthy lifestyle have become serious problems in Australia. According to the paper published by Dr Alex from Monash University, there are numerous commercial factors that promote these health ailments. Moreover, marketing of such type of foods have changed the mindset of food around individuals, and thus they prefer to buy foods which are heavily marketed as taste-driven foods.

The paper published by Dr Chung signifies the change in attitude towards unhealthy foods by children, and it has a direct correlation with the marketing and branding of processed foods. In addition availability of healthy food is also a major factor. For instance, children who are from low-level socio-economic backgrounds tend to buy processed food, and thus, income equality needs to be addressed altogether.

According to Dr Chung, the government needs to take control of this problem and address the issues altogether. Besides, programs need to be developed which promote healthy eating. In the meantime, the International Congress on Obesity held on 18-22 October in Melbourne is an important event to address these types of issues.
