Nicole Rinehart from Monash University has developed clinical related interventions in relation to autism-related diseases. Moreover, according to the research, it has been found that different interventions on sleep patterns had a beneficial effect on the social, emotional and cognitive functions of children.
In the meantime, it is estimated that 1 out of 70 individuals suffer in Australia, further about 70% of autistic children suffer from sleep disorders.
While Professor Rhinehart had the studies based on 245 children whose ages ranged from 5 to 13 years.
The tailored strategies for the improvement of sleep consisted of a bedtime fading strategy which focused on temporary adjustment. In addition, the graduated extinction focuses on the weaning of the child. Eventually, it also had a bedtime pass which focuses on providing a single pass for the child to get out of the bedroom every night. For the most part, these strategies have led a significant impact on the children sleeping patterns and their respective families.
