New Clinical guidelines for the treatment of depression

An international task force has been developed by the Deakin Univerisity for various sets of guidelines to ensure relevant interventions have been appropriately developed for the treatment of ailments such as depression. For the most part, these guidelines focus on essential interventions such as the prohibition of smoking and alcohol.
Professor Adrienne O'Neil, the Co-Director of Deakin’s Food and Mood Centre, has revealed that guidelines are designed in such a way that health professionals can provide essential guidance to ensure the improvement of the mental health of the individuals.
Particularly there are guidelines that provide clear recomendations for enhancing the lifestyle of an individual. In particular, the approach includes regular physical activities such as exercise. Likewise, it also focuses on relaxation-based techniques such as breathing exercises. In addition, it also lays emphasis on the development of a healthy diet. While these guidelines have been developed using systematic reviews that were published in World Journal for Biological Psychiatry.Moreover, Deakin University is also planning to launch an online course for health professionals to skill up in this field by utilising the elements from these developed guidelines.
