Monash University has received funding of $360,000 from the state government for two projects of mRNA. This funding from the state government will help the researchers at Monash University to discover the new effective treatments for the people suffering from muscular dystrophy or metabolic liver diseases in newborn babies. For this research, Monash University has collaborated with Alfred Health. This research will include pre-clinical testing, and if their research gets successful, the team will take support from the experts to progress the new treatment to clinical trials. This initiative will improve the health outcomes of children born with muscular dystrophy. Christina Mitchell (dean at Monash Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Science) said this award is a proof of Monash University's strong commitment to RNA and mRNA research, and it is also recognised, by mRNA Victoria that this is an area of research that will be hugely beneficial to human health, across a broad range of medical applications and diseases,".
