Lack of Health Facilities in Rural Australia Leading to Higher Death Rates

There have been reports of high death rates and inadequate healthcare facilities in rural Australia. According to the findings based around the University of Australia researchers, it has been found there have been numerous obstacles based in Australia in providing ultrasound facilities. In addition to that, other major issues involved include the high cost of travel and ultrasound equipment among rural pregnant women have been some of the contributing factors which have led to the high outcomes with respect to high-level death rates.
Amber Bidner from Unisa is the 2022 SA Winnovation winner and is the co-author of the new UniSA research report, which is funded by The Hospital Research Foundation. Accordingly, it has been found that, for the most part, rural patients face socio-cultural, economic as well as environmental barriers based on pregnancy services. Meanwhile, Amber Bidner is a nurse who is also a nuclear medicine scientist for the Unisa healthy newborn project award in the Rural, Regional and Remote Categories.
