The national centre for healthy ageing research is conducting studies to learn about the beneficial aspects of bonding with animals to support the healthy ageing of senior individuals. Moreover, this research project is funded by the federal government and this research process is a partnership between Monash University and Peninsula Health.
Specifically, the feeling of loneliness increases gradually with the increase in age of individuals. Furthermore, individuals from minority groups such as migrants or refugees pose a greater risk of the psychological risks associated with loneliness as a whole.
In the meantime, Dr Em Bould from Monash University has been working on finding evidence that showcases the benefits of animal-human interactions. While Dr Bould has secured a combined funding of $4.77 million for the labs where studies related to animal-human interaction are comprehensively discussed. Likewise, it has been found that animal interactions have served as a catalyst for social interactions. Meanwhile National centre of healthy ageing is a federally funded organisation whose aim is to ensure the resolution of major challenges people face during ageing.
