The Actual History of Twitter

The idea of developing Twitter came up with the podcasting venture Odeo. It is an online podcasting platform that allows its users to listen and to watch the audio and videos. This platform also helps its users to create their own audio and video. Odeo was first founded in 2004 by Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass in 2004. In 2005, Apple said it will provide podcast services to its digital platforms like I-Tunes. It was difficult for Odeo to compete with Apple. So the employees of Odeo were asked to create new projects to compete with the companies like Apple. Jack Dorsey, an engineer in Odeo, came up with the idea to launch the SMS app to share small messages, information, and news with friends. He named those SMS “Tweet”. Jack Dorsey completed his first tweet (Just Setting up my twittr) and introduced the first version of Twitter in July 2006. As Twitter was a free SMS service platform, so it was difficult to raise revenue from it. So Jack Dorsey decided to collect revenue by taking advertising fees from the advertisers who wanted to promote their services via Twitter.
