Monash University has begun a research project to learn about the impact of climate change in Antarctica. The Australian Research Council has launched a special initiative for research. Along with the opening for research also begins the start of the 2022 - 2023 Australian Antarctic Field Season.
The Securing Antarctica's Environmental Future research would be delivered with the Antarctic as well as South Ocean research. For the most part, this research will prove to be beneficial to neighbouring countries of Australia in the Southern Pacific region.
In the meantime, a $36 million grant has been allotted to the Australian Research Council as a part of their special research initiative. According to the Monash President and Vice-Chancellor Margaret Gardner, this initiative would address the challenge of climate change, geopolitical security and the survival of communities.
